John L Fowles Bio

John L Fowles received his BS and MA degrees from Brigham Young University and a PHD from the University of Missouri-Columbia in Social Foundations of Education, with an emphasis in Religious Studies. John retired from the LDS church Educational system after thirty-eight years of service.

John was an associate editor for The New Testament (1998), Book of Mormon (1999), Church History (2004), and Old Testament (2005) for Latter Day Saint Families series. Some of his other publications include “Zenos’ Prophetic Allegory of Israel”, in a Symposium on the Book of Mormon (1986), The Jewish Lectionary and Book of Mormon Prophecy”, in Journal of Book of Mormon Studies 3 (Fall 1994) and “John’s Prophetic Vision of God and the Lamb”, in SBSS (1998). Recently John published The Farmboy does it Again: Evidences of the prophetic calling of Joseph Smith.

Brother Fowles has served for many years in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as a gospel doctrine instructor, in elder’s quorum, high priest group leadership positions, on high council, as a bishop, and as a counselor in two stake presidencies. John and his wife Debbie reside in Providence, Utah, have five children and thirteen grandchildren.
